Spread the word about new ways to fight MS

Thanks to significant advances in research, the FDA has approved several treatments that may alter the underlying disease course of multiple sclerosis, and early treatment is critically important. People with MS should consult their doctors about using one of these FDA-approved medications and other effective treatments for the symptoms of MS. If you or someone you know has MS, contact the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at 1-800-344-4867 or click here.

Research Perspectives: The Role of Genetics in MS.

Although MS is not inherited directly, there appears to be a genetic predisposition to developing the disease. A major effort has been under way for over a decade to search for the genetics underpinnings of multiple sclerosis - the inherited set of genes that makes people susceptible to developing the disease. If successful, it would give scientists a roadmap to the cause of MS, as well as concrete targets for new therapies and possibly even ways to prevent the disease.

Date: September 22nd, 2008 from 6pm to 8pm.
Location: 1800 East Putnam Avenue, Old Greenwich, CT.
Presenter: David Hafler, MD

To Register, contact Debby Bennett at (914) 684 1655 Ext. 38 or email her at debby.bennett@nyv.nmss.org.
